New Economy Project’s Executive Director, Deyanira Del Río, Appointed to Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani’s Transition Committee

New York, NY – New Economy Project is pleased to share that our Executive Director, Deyanira Del Río, has been appointed to Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani’s Transition Committee on Economic Development & Workforce Development. In this role, she will advise on mayoral appointments and policy priorities for the next administration.

Deyanira brings more than 25 years of experience advancing cooperative and community-controlled finance, immigrants’ economic rights, and equitable neighborhood-led development—with leadership roles spanning community development credit unions, community land trust advocacy, and city- and state-level economic justice campaigns.

Since 1995, New Economy Project has worked with hundreds of community groups to combat systemic injustice and build an economy that works for all. From challenging financial exploitation and securing groundbreaking policy and legal victories to expanding cooperative development and bringing public banking to New York, our campaigns are building a powerful movement for change.
