New Economy Project’s mission is to build an economy that works for all, rooted in racial and neighborhood equity, cooperation, and ecological sustainability.
We work with community groups to pursue lasting, transformational change—by advancing community land trusts, worker and financial cooperatives, public banking, and other democratically controlled initiatives that build power and collective community wealth. We also challenge corporations and systems that harm and extract wealth from communities, fueling inequality and poverty.
Based in New York City, New Economy Project combines coalition organizing, legal and policy advocacy, community education and training, applied research, and narrative strategies to build a broad-based movement for change.
