Testifying for Climate Justice

“Addressing root causes of the climate crisis means challenging runaway fossil fuel funding by banks—as we work to build new institutions, like local public banks, rooted in racial justice and ecological sustainability.”

—Campaign organizer Tousif Ahsan delivers our testimony at recent NYS Senate hearing on banks and climate change

Roadmap to Resident Control

Should tenants have a first right to buy their buildings when a landlord sells? We think so! That’s why we helped craft the NYS Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA), which would allow exactly that.

Last week, we helped organize a powerful statewide Town Hall on TOPA, at which nearly 100 tenants and organizers came together to learn and strategize around resident control. Participants heard from New Yorkers who have successfully taken over their buildings, and from Assembly Member Marcela Mitaynes who, along with Senator Zellnor Myrie, is a chief sponsor of the TOPA bill. Learn more about TOPA and take action here.
