A Progressive Agenda for NYC
Yesterday, New Economy Project joined the NYC Council’s Progressive Caucus and dozens of coalition partners and other social justice organizations at City Hall to rally for a Progressive Agenda for New York City. Two of New Economy Project’s core campaigns—public banking and community land trusts—figure prominently in the Progressive Caucus’s legislative priorities, and we’re excited to continue organizing with groups to make this people-powered agenda a reality in NYC. “Worst Banks Awards” Are Back!
New Economy Project served as master of ceremonies at Public Bank NYC’s 2022 Worst Bank Awards last week. Joined by NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, NYS Senator Jabari Brisport and NYS Assemblymember Yuh-Line Niou, coalition members from Cooper Square Committee, East New York Community Land Trust, Lower East Side People’s Federal Credit Union, and New York Communities for Change presented the following awards:
- Worst Climate Destroyer: JPMorgan Chase
- Worst Funder of Bad Landlords: Capital One & Signature Bank
- Worst Redliner: Wells Fargo
- Worst Pandemic Profiteer: Citibank & JPMorgan Chase
- Lifetime Aggrievement Award: Bank of America
